Paraclete 46 is an inner-city outreach ministry focused on sharing the gospel of Christ by intentionally building relationships with at-risk urban student athletes and their families.
Paraclete, taken from the English transliteration of the Greek word paráklētos, signifies “one who consoles or comforts, one who encourages or uplifts; hence refreshes, and/or one who intercedes on our behalf as an advocate in court”. Number 46 was David’s Jersey number while with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Vision: To see the Lord bring eternal change in the lives of urban student athletes and their families, by partnering with churches, schools, businessmen and lawmakers.
The Mission: To offer resources and guidance to at-risk urban student athletes and their families.
David attended Boise State University and was drafted #31 in the 2nd round by the Seattle Seahawks. Both he and his wife Holly accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior through a Precept Bible Study with the team in 1985. Competing and winning at the highest levels had always been a part of David’s life. After having faced the death of his father at age 11, the death of his daughter, who was 22 the time, and almost 7 years later, his 10-day old grandson as well, he offers great insight to inner-city youth on living victoriously with joy despite your circumstances.
He and his wife Holly, of 35 years reside in Renton, Washington where the Lord uses their gift of hospitality to the fullest. They currently house 2 fulltime high school athletes as well as host several of the football players on weekend respites. Parents often come for meals where they will both joyfully share why they do what they do!
